These are favorites of my mother's and would love to surprise her, but the Betty Crocker Sour Cream White Cake Mix is no longer made. I would guess I could use a White Cake Mix but not sure how to get the sour cream flavor. The recipe for the cookies has the following ingredients: 3/4 c butter; 1 tsp vanilla; 1 sour cream cake mix; 3/4 c finely chopped pecans - Any ideas on how to modify this would be greatly appreciated. How can I convert a cookie recipe that calls for a Betty Crocker Sour Cream Cake Mix (which no longer exists)?
Use the white cake mix and substitute half of the butter with sour cream. When baking a cake I substitute the oil for sour cream or Miracle whip. It makes a very moist and delicious cake.
My first suggestion was going to be substituting 3/4 cup sour cream for 3/4 cup butter but I think that would make your batter not quite stiff enough. Although you could try it both ways and then you'll know for certain and the cookies will be perfect for your MOM. Good luck with that. How can I convert a cookie recipe that calls for a Betty Crocker Sour Cream Cake Mix (which no longer exists)?
